Next Northland Partners Meeting

Hi folks, sorry a quick edit to my last message. The next meeting will be March 28th, not 27th, at noon at the Northland Performing Arts Center. Thanks!

Upcoming Northland Events and Resources

Hi Partners: I just wanted to let you know about several upcoming events of interest. Please note I have added these to the NCC calendar (I have this synced on my phone!) at https://www.columbusncc.org/news-and-events/ncc-calendar/.

.

First, a reminder that Northland Partners will meet March 27th at noon at the Northland Performing Arts Center at 4411 Tamarack Blvd. We will as usual share what’s going on in our organizations and also get a tour of NPAC.

Also, the Elevate Northland team is meeting monthly on second Wednesdays at noon at Ashland University, 1900 E. Dublin Granville Road, usually in Room 105 or 107. Let me know if you are not on that list and wish to be added.

January Meeting of Northland Partners

Partners, I have a few FREE tickets donated by the Harmony Project for their concert THIS Saturday! (Note, parking is not free). They are intended for people living in or serving Northland who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity. Please let me know if you or community members you know could benefit from them.

On a related note, I have set a January meeting and Courtney Keys from the Harmony Project will be our guest. Let’s gather on January 10th at 12pm at Ashland University in the small meeting room 105.

There’s a lot to talk about so please join us if you can!

November Update from Northland Partners

Hi Partners! I know it’s been a very long time. The Bazaar kept me busy, then working on the Northland Collective project is also taking up time, plus I’m dealing with some personal transitions and now it’s near the end of year madness. But I want to reconnect in January so stay tuned! I also may be reaching out to some of you as I want to put more focus onto figuring out how to help area organizations build their capacity.

Also, while my plan is to keep the Bazaar going, I need a few committed people to help me. Please let me know if that’s you so we can start strong when the new year starts!

I recently had a conversation with a lady from the Harmony Project (www.harmonyproject.com). While they are a choir, membership is “paid” in volunteer work. So if you have a community service need, please use this Harmony Project Volunteer Request. This could be a great resource for some of you, and they would love to know Northland better as it is their new “home” for practices. I also plan to invite her to our January meeting.

The Harmony Project is also giving me some tickets to their December 6 concert (https://www.harmonyproject.com/events-and-concerts/). They would like me to pass them on so folks from our community can attend. Please let me know if you and/or anyone from your organization or community would like some!

Thank you all and if I don’t see some of you before the year is over, have a blessed holiday season!

Upcoming Refugee Integration Conference

Please review and share the below flyer and registration info for “The 2018 Refugee Integration Conference: Overcoming Trauma to Integration”.

From the flyer: It is a two-day event that will bring together individuals of diverse communities. Partnerships in the public, private, nonprofit agencies and service providers will focus on trauma and the healing process. Speakers will showcase best practices from the field, provide state-level information around the economic costs associated with the underutilization of immigrant professionals, and provide information on local and national tools to help this population better integrate into Ohio’s workforce. Community members will walk away with the tools to help New Americans integrate successfully into the United States.

Thank you for supporting the Northland Bazaar1

Hi Partners: Thanks so much to all of you who participated, volunteered,  helped spread the word, shopped and supported the 2nd Northland Community Bazaar in many different ways.

I wanted to share my photos and request if you have any to add them to the album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/b5KoarboEB7PyVtFA

Also, if you put out yard signs (thank you!), would you kindly return the stakes to the Ink Well (1939 E Dublin Granville Rd) so they can reuse them, or let me know where I can pick them up from you.

Finally, it’s been a little while since we have met as a group. Besides the Bazaar, I’ve been working on another project involving community organizations and businesses. We are hoping to build up a business incubator/co-working space that will generate some economic life while bringing the community together supporting the work many organizations are doing here.  If you want to be involved in this and are not already, let me know and I’ll loop you in.

I do want the Northland Partners to meet again and catch up and talk about our aim, probably in November.

Stay in touch!

Jenny
